Resin trap/Media trap

Res-Kem offers resin traps (or media traps) that are prevention devices on water treatment system lines to insure against complete loss of media in the event of a failure. A resin trap is used on service outlet and backwash lines on ion exchange units, high purity water systems, and activated carbon and media filters. The resin trap is activated by escaping media at the onset of a failure, and the media that collects in the resin trap blocks water flow and extensive loss of media.

Resin Trap Benefits

  1. Eliminates mass resin/media loss into piping distribution system
  2. Prevents loss of resin during backwashing
  3. Protects downstream equipment and pumps
  4. Visual detection of minor resin/media losses in advance of major equipment failure

Resin Traps Uses

A resin trap is designed and installed to prevent the loss of media in the event of:

  1. Underdrain failure
  2. Lateral failure
  3. Strainer failure

The resin trap is typically placed:

  1. Between units
  2. After a unit
  3. In a backwash line

Resin Trap Features

  1. PVC and stainless steel construction
  2. Clear acrylic tube for unobstructed viewing
  3. Resin/media blowdown valve for trap cleaning and media retrieval
  4. High flow rates with low pressure loss, (Clean trap pressure drop is less than 2.0 psig)
  5. End connection options: threaded, socket or flanged

Model Number-* Connection Size Connection Type Flow Rate (gpm) Weight (lbs)
RT20-* 2" T/S/F 100 18
RT30-* 3" T/S/F 150 21
RT40-* 4" S/F 250 28

Note: (*) connection types: "T" = mpt, "S" = socket, "F" = flanged. Add to model number when ordering.
