History of Res-Kem Corporation >>

For Residential Use For Industrial Use Contact Res-Kem Corp.

Denise Urbans founded Res-Kem Corp. in 1983. Res-Kem started out as a distributor of ion exchange resins and filter media and continues to do the same today with a much more complete line of products to offer. With the addition of partner Bob Hader in 1984, Res-Kem offered retrofit, repair and rebed work to customers in the Greater Philadelphia area. Upon gaining the confidence of these customers Res-Kem started to engineer and manufacture complete water treatment systems for commercial and industrial customers. Many of these systems continue in operation more than 20 years later. Today Res-Kem sells to end-users of commercial, industrial and municipal equipment directly and through a representative network.

In 1985, Denise's brother, Michael Urbans joined Res-Kem to start up the wholesale residential water treatment business. The wholesale residential business sells media and household systems to plumbers, well drillers and water conditioning dealers. Res-Kem does not sell to the public, choosing to remain behind the scenes helping customers solve water problems as they arise nationally and regionally- neighborhood by neighborhood. Since 1985, Michael has helped pioneer new products in conjunction several major manufacturers - Calgon Carbon Corp and Purolite. Michael Urbans is the president of the Eastern Water Quality Association (EWQA) for 2006.

Res-Kem and General Water

Res-Kem started building a service deionizer (DI) business in the early 90's. To more carefully manage this business unit, General Water Services Corp. was founded and began operation on January 1, 2000. Unlike Res-Kem, General Water does business regionally, supplying customers in New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland with leased or rental DI bottles up to 30 cubic feet for the purification of water for process applications.

Res-Kem South

In 2005, Res-Kem opened an office and warehouse in Jacksonville, Florida to better service the growing Southeast USA region. Together with Denise, Todd Mosteller is building Res-Kem South by providing superior technical service and innovative solutions to residential, commercial and industrial water problems.
